Y9 had a very entertaining session with Kevin Hicks of the History Squad today.
Saxon history is now on the GCSE syllabus. Pupils learned about Saxon warfare through handling some very authentic replica weapons.
There was a fantastic demonstration of long bow archery on the field. Y9 also enjoyed the game of ‘Kingy Bat’ which involved passing a ball of wool along a set of small shields. This challenging game was designed to develop wrist dexterity and strength ready for armed combat.
Saxon history was certainly brought to life through this very interactive visit.
