North Warwickshire Fire Brigade came in today and delivered an entertaining and educational presentation on safety in the water to both the primary and the senior school.
Readers may be surprised that the fire brigade are involved in water safety education. However, they explained how various unfortunate events had caused them to reconsider how they dealt with water based situations. They demonstrated how they now use a line to rescue drowning people because it floats whereas their traditional fireman’s rope weighed the victim down. They also explained in a very down to earth way, how young people get themselves into trouble in the water.
Let’s hope the message is heeded and all our students stay safe this summer!
